Carving Pumpkins

It's SO nice to live so close to Grandma and Grandpa. They came to our house to help carve pumpkins again this year. Grandpa actually grew most of the ones we carved. We had a blast together. All of the kids like digging out the pumpkin "snot" with their hands and got right in there and helped too. Grandma printed off a bunch of fun faces for us to trace and cut out and they turned out really cute. That was much more fun than trying to think of different faces on our own.

Grandpa did some carving too.

Family Pictures

Our neighbor, Sandra, took our family pictures this year. We were going to have them done a week before we ended up doing them, but I was in the hospital with kidney stones and poor Kaleb broke his collar bone the same day. I was so afraid all the pretty leaves would be gone since our shoot was postponed, but things worked out great. The leaves were still pretty and I feel like we got some great shots to choose from. Sandra did a fabulous job! Thanks so much!!

The belly picture is a must!

I loved this rusty old tank. Sandra spotted that treasure on our way to the canyon. So glad we stopped for some pics here on the way back.

We HAD to do a silly one.

Decorating Cookies

I rarely make sugar cookies. I'm not very good at getting them to turn out and they're kind of a pain. The whole "chill for 1 hour" thing kinda makes them annoying..but, I thought the kids might enjoy decorating some, so we did it. They did NOT turn out great, but the boys didn't know any different and once they were smothered in frosting, no one even noticed how ugly they were underneath. They had a blast and we sure liked eating them!

Pumpkin Patch

The pumpkin patch for us, like many others, is a must in October. The kids love going to pick out pumpkins and we love to take them to see the looks on their cute little faces when they see the field FULL of pumpkins. I love looking for that "perfect" pumpkin too. This year, I got a couple of great ones that were full of personality. We went with a few of our neighbors and had a great time!

Macey, Kaleb, Coby, Luke, Ethan and Talon all piled in the wagon ready to check out the pumpkin patch.
Searching for the "perfect" pumpkin.

Found it! Of course, the boys wanted to cut the stem themselves. Josh helped, but only a little.
Coby with his pumpkin.
The best part about this pumpkin patch is the little playground. They couldn't wait to get back and play in the sandbox and on the swings.

Memorial Service

My cousin, Matthew, passed away on September 18th and we had a memorial service for him here. He loved living in Ephraim, the people here, and I would dare say he called it home after the short 1 1/2 years he was here. Along with getting to put together the memorial, we also got to play "hotel" to all of our relatives. It was so nice to have everyone together, even if the quarters were cramped. We enjoyed the company and all of the late night visits. It's not very often that we all get to be together.

Uncle Nazim, Aunt Charlotte and Uncle Chip
Uncle Alberto...and Dad, sneaking a smile into the bottom of the picture.
We also got to have Shadow stay with us since he was going home with Aunt Merrily. We didn't mind. It was just like old times when Matthew lived with us. The kids absolutely love Shadow and he is MORE than patient with the kids.

The Clampetts

I'm sure these pictures will speak for themselves. I got such a kick out of Coby and Kaleb in these photos. They are both in the Mustang tooling around the neighborhood. Coby with no shirt on, wearing a backpack and eating a snack. Kaleb is driving with a pen in his hand and his fishing pole between his legs. They also have a spare blanket draped across the back of the car just in case. These kids crack me up!!
